Here’s how it works: first, we do a consultation based on an excerpt of up to 5,000 words, followed by a live conversation. The fee for this first consultation is $200, which includes a written general assessment. If we both feel we’re a good fit, I’ll edit your full manuscript at a rate of $0.045 per word. Turnaround time depends on the length of your manuscript and my current availability.

Manuscript Assessment

Some writers ask for a manuscript assessment before committing to full developmental editing; for others, an assessment is all they need to guide their revisions. In my assessment, I give feedback that highlights what’s working and what isn’t yet on the page. I offer clear revision guidelines focused on uncovering the heart of your story—narrative voice and point of view, character arc or narrator’s journey, pacing, and structure. I compile my notes in a letter that covers all these aspects. Please note manuscript assessments do not include editorial markups within the text itself. My rate for this service is $0.020 per word.
